We assist natural products chemists in developing countries through organizing international symposia on the chemical, biological and pharmacological properties of medicinal plants and associates with each symposium a workshop on chemical screening and bioactivity-guided fractionation.

We have also instituted a travel grant program to bring developing-country scientists to certain international meetings and workshops.

IOCD International Symposium on ‘Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology and Clinical Studies of Asian Plants’, Surabaya, Indonesia, 9-11 April 2007. This symposium brought together scientists from around the world in academia, public health organizations, and industry. Twelve plenary lectures and special sessions dealt with the current state and future trends in Asian traditional medicine, and implications for the development of new therapeutics. Symposium on Chemistry, Biological, and Pharmacological Properties African Medicinal Plants. Held in 1996 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Prior to the conference, IOCD organized a workshop on bioactivity-guided isolation at laboratories of the University of Zimbabwe.
